Meet Your South Sound Audiology Professional
Julie VanAusdal started her career as a clinical audiologist with a B.S. degree in speech pathology from the University of Iowa in 1985. She came to Washington state for post-graduate study in audiology, earning an M.S. in audiology from the University of Washington, which included an internship that she completed in 1988.
Following the completion of her master’s degree, Ms. VanAusdal worked with a neuro-otologist in Anchorage, AK. While in this practice, she performed diagnostic audiology services, including intraoperative monitoring, and cochlear implant programming. In addition to diagnostic work, she provided her patients with solutions to their hearing challenges using hearing instruments and assistive listening devices.
She returned to Olympia, WA in 1995, working in a local ENT practice until 2007 where she continued to apply her expertise with hearing instrument fitting and aural rehabilitation to provide local patients with better hearing solutions in our community.
Since 2007, Ms. VanAusdal has operated South Sound Audiology, applying 20 years of education, experience, and expertise to provide hearing solutions to pediatric and adult patients in the greater Olympia community.
She is passionate about restoring the relationships and opportunities her patients lost because of hearing challenges. Her greatest motivation is seeing her patients enjoy a more active, rewarding, and independent lifestyle due to better hearing. Her commitment to our community shines through in her patient-centered approach to her audiology practice.
I was honestly stunned at what I had been missing…
May was indeed a better hearing month for me, thanks to you! AND I can testify to the need for a yearly exam at minimum! I thought my hearing was about the same. But when I went for an annual check-up, and subsequent follow up, I was honestly stunned at what I had been missing… I guess it had happened to me over the entire year, a little at a time, so I didn’t notice the loss. To see if she could improve my hearing, first Julie did all she could for my current hearing aids… then she scheduled them to be sent for a “check-up” of their own. Then to help me hear while my aids were getting checked, she fitted me with a more current model – a demo set I could use until my old ones were returned. She put them in my ears and then she spoke. It was just a normal sentence, but I could not believe the difference in the clarity of the words in that very first sentence…
Almost instantly I realized how much I had missed of what my children and grandchildren had said over the past year… not to mention my husband! I was so glad to hear that much better that I’m budgeting to update my hearing aids. I’m not missing all those important conversations anymore!
My thanks to Hailey and Julie!
